An interview with Ayelet Giladi - Voice of Child Association about her book "No Children's Play- Early Childhood Sexual Harassment"
Childhood sexual harassment is extremely important and sensitive subject to raise awareness about, what are the biggest challenges you have observed in regard of childhood sexual harassment?
Kindergarten teachers and primary school teachers and parents, need to identify the games that grow into sexual harassment behavior, in order to prevent it to get to abuse behavior, which becomes a savior trauma that needs a lot of care and treatment that cause a lot of pain to the child and his parents; a lot of money to the country (for each 1 dollar we put in prevention we save 7 dollars of treatment). By teaching easy tools and short training it is possible to prevent sexual harassment to happen.
How the tools educational system and community uses has changed over time in regard of understanding, coping, and prevention of early childhood sexual harassment?
The tools are changing from one group of age to another. For younger children we can use use animal dolls as a tool to show them how they can keep their bodies safe. We should work with children according to the social and emotional developmental stage using activities, plays, songs and active learning.
In your book, you also provide its readers with tools on how parents can become active in certain situations in their children's lives. Can you please give us a short insight on which tools do you find useful?
Conversation with the child on a daily basic around dinner time; sharing stories about your day, encouraging them to do the same - to share what happened in school, what have they seen on computer, how was his afternoon activities. A lot can be discover from those conversations, and parents get to know what is going through on the child life. A talk on the way for a snack somewhere, about what it is right or wrong in regard of his body.
Parents, after a webinar - training meeting, will know how to listen to a child, not to be scared of what they heard and to be active in order to give the child the knowledge that it is important to talk about issues and parents will help.
You just published a book with us, what are your next goals?
To bring the training and the tools to other countries. My goal and duty is to get in touch with teachers in educational colleges and universities to do a training to educate about the issues.
With parents I would love to meet in workshops - to show how to identify the issues, how to talk to the child and how to help them.
How did you find a publication process with LAP and can you please tell your readers why did you chose to work with us?
I got an e-mail proposing to develop my article in a form of book. It looked to me as very effective process to publish a book online. I choose to meet the people behind the book publisher and visited the office. It was a very important decision. I went to Dusseldorf and met in person with Marta, Toufic, Benoit, and Karina, very devoted people in their work. I felt very welcomed. The process to publish the book was very fast and effective, with very good team who helped me, even from a distance, it is possible to get a book published. I thank you all very much.

All thanks to the author on this influential topic that touches a wide segment of society.
Congratulations for your book Ayelet Giladi - Voice of Child Association! It was an incredible pleasure to meet you in Düsseldorf. See you soon!
"As a researcher focused mainly on publications in scientific journals, I have always imagined that publishing a book would be a long, difficult process.
Cooperating with Olesea Conicov and AkademikerVerlag proved to be quite the opposite. The process was fast and flawless, having received all the support necessary in a matter of days.
Besides addressing my points of interest and guiding me through the technicalities, the publisher has been actively involved in the process, offering professionally designed promotional material and outreach opportunities.
Overall, I have been delighted to collaborate with them."

"A publicação de uma obra talvez seja uma das mais gratas maneiras de compartilhar seu conhecimento, enquanto professor é a oportunidade de consolidar sua dedicação. Ao longo da minha carreira acadêmica e profissional tentei utilizar as ações da Educação Física nas áreas que considero ser essencial para se buscar qualidade de vida e desenvolvimento, e é o que apresento neste livro".

Title: Leadership on Demand
LAMBERT Academic Publishing
The book can be purchased here:
1. What encouraged you to author this revealing publication ”Leadership on Demand“?
I was encouraged to write this book by watching people selflessly lead and follow others through the years. My belief is that everyone displays leadership characteristics at some point. Sometimes circumstances dictate who becomes a leader. Jack Welch, the former Chairman and CEO of General Electric said, “The world will belong to passionate, driven leaders who can energize those whom they lead”. I would add, “When leaders serve, people will follow”. The kindness and creativity of everyday people was the inspiration in writing this book. Every person has an innate ability to lead in their own way.
2. Tell us more about you. Where are you from and why you decided to publish a book?
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona in the United States. As a child I attended public schools and was an average student. I was not the most intelligent, the most thoughtful or the most innovative. However, I watched and listened to others. I have had great teachers throughout life. Some of my teachers were formal and other teachers were informal. From the age of six to this day I have had tremendous teachers. Through the years I have determined that I can learn something from everyone. In life, sometimes doors close and sometimes doors open. As doors have opened for me, I have been able to walk through them. I am not an extraordinary person, I am an ordinary person.
I was fortunate to have very strong role models in my family and beyond. They taught me that sometimes leadership roles are thrust upon you, other times leadership roles come naturally. Whatever the circumstance is for each individual, be prepared and willing to accept the challenge of leadership. Additionally, I was taught that it is equally important to be a good follower. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Treat everyone as if they were in your own family. For example, take care of the needs of your colleagues and co-workers before you take care of your own needs. This is a trait of great leadership.
As is the case with most people, my life has had its challenges. I have had my successes and disappointments. I learned more from my greatest defeats than from my most prominent successes. Every day is a new day. I will get out of it just what I put into it. The gap between enthusiasm and indifference is filled with challenges. When all else fails, persist and have faith.
Finally, I have learned to always be willing to give others a “helping hand”.
3. What authors do you like to read? What book or books have had a strong influence on you or your writing?
A few of my favorite authors are:
John Grisham, Stephen King, Langston Hughes, W.E.B. DuBois, Alice Walker and Liane Moriarty. I respect many other excellent authors.
The books that have had a strong influence on me:
“Up the Organization” by Robert Townsend;
“Winning Through Enlightenment” by Ron Smotherman;
“Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck;
“Getting to Yes” by Roger Fisher and William Ury;
“The Goal” by Eliyahu Goldratt;
“Up From Slavery” by Booker T. Washington;
“Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun” by Reginald Lewis.
4. It is part of our business concept to actively look for new authors. What was your first reaction when you received our proposal to publish your academic work with us?
My first reaction was to ask questions about your organization. I was not familiar with your company and wanted to learn about it. I always try to work with forward-thinking organizations that value the people they work with and their other constituents.
5. What was your experience with our team like?
My experience with your team has been very good. Your team has been very nice. They have answered my questions and always responded to me in a prompt way. I have enjoyed working with your team. I am willing to work with you to do more creative things in the future as well. I am open to helping your organization and your authors.
6. Are you planning another book publication? And if so, on which topic and can you imagine cooperating with us in the future again?
Yes, I am planning another book. The new book will probably be on global leadership and leading change. I would definitely consider working with your organization again.
7. Any last thoughts for our readers?
